What are we about?

  • “ The Renaissance workshop has really honed my skills as an artist. In the short year that I have spent participating in the workshop I have learned so much about technique, use of the imagination and the integration of the two. I am new to oil painting and have gained a tremendous amount of confidence since joining the workshop. There is a great benefit to the intimate nature of the setting which allows the instructor to work one-on-one with each participant. It is rare to get this kind of personal attention. Raul Santiago Sebazco is a gifted instructor who respects the individuality of each participant while guiding her to the next level of of achievement. It was a thrill to see all of the participants' work displayed at the annual art show/party on Saturday. Bravi to us all!! ”

We are an art workshop inspired by the Renaissance workshops of the 15th century where apprenticing artists worked and shared ideas and techniques under the guidance of a professional master artist in his workshop-home. Also, we emphasize personal vision and the learning of the science and craft of art as essential for the expression of that personal vision.

Below is a another video showing our workshop

and the annual workshop exhibit and artist-salon party.
  • “ Great. It was a good chance to wind down and share ideas. ”

  • “ Hi friends !! To me , The Renaissance Workshop and Art Salon is one of its kind in Manhattan and I would say quite rare. The participants at the workshop are free to express their art and artistic abilities; with no no undue pressure ( or competition ). It is a free, open environment which brings together artists working in different styles, medium, size and concepts. The venue is the working studio of artist Raul Santiago Sebazco, and so the participants get the real experience of working in a 'live' studio. Raul attends to each of them personally as per their needs and helps them to enhance the artistic compositions, without being overly instructive. The atmosphere and ambience at the workshop is mature, definitely 'full of art & painting' with the added elements of good conversation, good music and positive energy. In addition to honing their artistic skills, Raul also shares his rich knowledge of art history and techniques with the group. All put together, a great Art Workshop !!!! ”
